The head on the duratec is good with nice big valves and well machined ports. Throw on some throttle bodies and an ECU and you are looking at 190bhp from a duratec as opposed to 165bhp for a zetec. The duratec has a deeper growl Duratec also has more torque……well it feels that way anyway.

7/18/2006 · Zetec: Less power, better aftermarket options for FI and N/A. Duratec: More power, less aftermarket options, better chances of higher gains. I hate saying this in the Zetec forum (Me being a Duratec-ie and all) but it has shown thus far that the Duratec will become the better of the two engines for both stock and aftermarket purposes.
7/20/2009 · Both the Zetec and Duratec use a returnless fuel system. The transmission is not the same and will not bolt up. You will need to find a complete wrecked vehicle to do a swap, and there will be a lot involved because you’ll have to remove the wiring harness and change out the ECU as well as reprogram the other computers to work with the new ECU.
