5/27/2020  · Gerota’s fascia, otherwise known as renal fascia, is collagen-filled, fibrous connective tissue that encapsulates the kidneys and adrenal glands. Gerota’s fascia separates perinephric fat from paranephric fat—the fat in the front and back of the kidney.

Gerota fascia – the condensation of the fibroareolar tissue and fat surrounding the kidney to form a sheath for the organ. Synonym (s): Gerota capsule; renal fascia. Gerota’s fascia sorrounds kidney with it’s fat case. It has two (connected) parts: fascia prerenalis – localized before the kidney, fascia retrorenalis – localized behind the kidney. All the described structures lie in the retroperitoneal space. Clinical significance of the Gerota’s fascia is: fixation of the kidney in retroperitoneal space,, Incising Gerota’s Fascia . The 4th (most medial) robotic arm is used to provide anteriormedial retraction. This step is key to achieve proper tension on Gerota’s fascia . Getotas fascia is entered using the monopolar scissors and the incision is carried craniocaudally. The plane of the psoas muscle should be used as the horizon.
